Most Wedding Photo Selection Tools Assume You're Alone at a Desktop. Most Couples Aren't.

Open almost any wedding photo gallery or proofing tool, and you'll notice something: it's designed for one person, sitting down, with a mouse and a big screen. Click through, favorite, flag, done.

That's a reasonable design if your photographer is the one using it to sort their own shoot. It's a strange fit for what actually happens when a couple sits down to pick their wedding photos together — because usually, you don't sit down at all. It's more like: one of you is on the couch with a phone, the other is texting from work during a break, and you're trying to agree on 60 photos out of 1,500 without ever having the gallery open in the same room at the same time.

Desktop-first tools handle that badly. Someone ends up screen-sharing, or exporting a spreadsheet of photo numbers, or sending screenshots back and forth — workarounds for the fact that the tool assumed one user, not two.
