PicSelec FAQ: What It Is and How It Works

A few questions that come up a lot:

What is PicSelec? A free tool for going through a wedding or engagement photo gallery with someone else (a partner, a parent, anyone) and picking favorites together — built specifically around the "we disagree on some of these" problem.

Is it free? Yes, no account or payment needed to host or join a session.

Do I need to install anything? No. The person hosting (whoever has the photo folder) needs Chrome or Edge; anyone joining can use any browser, including on a phone.

Does my photographer need to use this too? No — this is for you and whoever you're choosing photos with. You can use it on any folder of photos you already have, whether that's a proofing gallery your photographer sent or photos you've downloaded yourself.

Where are my photos stored? Nowhere but your own device. Photos travel directly between browsers over a P2P connection; our server only helps the two browsers find each other and is never able to see the photos themselves.

What happens when the session ends? Whoever hosted the folder can reopen it anytime and everyone's picks are still there — they're saved locally in each person's own browser, not on a server.
